Young and Free Ambassadors (An anecdote)

A wonderful journey of nine students in organising an event that of a national level. The plan just cropped up in the chief Mind. He gathers a group, of five boys and then four girls. All of them were assigned with a department.

After the division of team members all of them waited for the term exams to be over and the day it got over. They tuned themselves for this journey. A work never that they had done before. A work that was an illusion till today for them. To organise an event that would cater student communities of all northern states. The teams motive was to showcase the rich cultural and Tourism beauty of their mother state Arunachal Pradesh through this fest at her birthday.
At the heat of racial discrimination they had set out to let people come, know and learn the people of Arunachal Pradesh. They worked hard day out. But after-all finance was the backbone and nothing can be done without that.

So they decided to Save their pocket money upto five thousand (Rs-5000). Though all could not submit due to poor financial conditions in their personal lives. They even prepared sponsorships proposal and went on presentation to different companies. But sadly there too they could get no relief.
But their determination wasn’t slowed down. Then they went begging at the state’s own Tourism department, which we supposed should be the main department to advertise or promote The Tourism affairs at all levels. But sadly we got a back kick there. The hope was over.

 But the dream was not shatter. We were hopeful that we can do it. We did not know how? But we knew we had to do it. Then on a fine evening one of presentation we got a sponsor. Dr. Hatobin Mai’s Living Dreams Trust. Then came in The Dawnlit Post A English daily from own state.
Dr. Hatobin was impressed by the work and was very responsive at the first meeting. His word of encourage and support and given the team powerful boost.

But then we had only two whose share wasn’t even the quarter.  We were thrash, many elders was perplexed looking at the flyers saying it’s above a crore (I mean one crore Rupees) investment event.
The d-day came nearer our head were spinning had some sleepless nights, Planning, Re-budgeting, Arranging. Students’ participants confirmed their participation. Students from Chandigarh, Harayana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Dehradun were ready to thrown and our work haven’t started yet. We had to provide them free accommodations, free Dinners, free Breakfast.

Adding more to responsibility was Our Chief Guest that was more of high Profile. Hon’ble Member of Parliament and an eminent Bollywood actor Mrs. Kirron Kher and some more other dignitaries. So our pressure was up more again.
And to get acomodatation at kissan bhawan at Chandigarh we had to bribe which they called “Seva-Panni”.

They day came in, our adreline rushed through the veins arranged everything in to-to. And the event was amazing. Chandigarh had an unusual sight when all Arunachalee Students came in their traditional dress. With Head gears, Colourful handmade dress and pretty faces of Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief Guest and other Guest reactions at our programme were so satisfactory. Our team members were so busy at back stage that they were never visible at any snaps of the programme. Sad but nevertheless we dreamt, we did it. At this level without any patronage we made impossible happened. The proud group of YouthNetIndia.

 We were successful in showing our rich tourism potential, rich Cultural Practices. We are the young ambassadors of our state Arunachal Pradesh.

Give youth an opportunity

                                Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speeches of his various spiels with the motif of “make in India” and employment generation seemingly do not strike a chord with youngsters in Arunachal. This is understandable because tragically we are only the 2, 3^{rd or} even first generation to come out and taste the 21^st century competitions.

                          And the employment scenario is all pervasive; one cannot help but sadly empathies with the youths of the state. To add salt to the ailing wound the state’s highest and honoured body that employs the top brain for administrations, The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) confirmed the worst fears of this handful of hardworking youth in the grip of severe deceit it is not finished here yet but it also seems that the government is blissful at fixing this problem immediately.

                            And here let me first expose the inanity of the so called employment exchange argument which seemingly suggests that unemployment in Arunachal is one of the lowest in the nation. The job Melas did gave some respite to some youth willing to work outside at mere pay- scale. I have few friends they have shared me their miseries! This is not to say that any profession is bad. It is to credit of Arunachalee youth’s indominant that they work hard for a better life, despite their state’s education system and government having failed them totally. Just imagine that with the sort of strong work ethics that our young men and women posses, where would they be, in case they were supported by an education that was relevant in the 21^st century!

                         Let me expose you some more arena of giving a chance to the youths. Out of many examples I wanted to give this categorically since all youths at this age are wired and depends on the internet. Just go around the websites of all departments of Arunachal Pradesh and attachments they give. They are straight away scanned and Xeroxed copy of the printed copy and is uploaded to get it down. At least a decent pdf. File cannot be uploaded. At this helm do we have short of some computer experts, programmers or at least someone that can maintain the website along? Leave along the other flaws.

                           Within few years of exposure we have seen that our modern Arunachal worker of 21st century are versatile and highly mobile and works in the fields such as IT, Media, Banking, hospitality, and knowledge process out-sourcing. The more adventurous of the lot follow their entrepreneurial ambitions, While not surprising I often read recent reports of Indian firms that have a valuation in excess of $2 billion and are less than a decade old, and were started by people who are below 35 years!. This has been possible only due to the opportunity given to the youths.

                             I fear  do we even have few  small-scale industries which have a potential of making Arunachal Pradesh an export destination or do we at least have an honest body to recruit some top brains for running the state smoothly or is/will the Prime Minister’s “Make in India” only for other states of India. Sorry I am pessimist in this. If our state affairs runs in this condition it shall reduced to a pitiable state due to state government’s neglect and apathy.

                                  On a article that I read in some website reports of terrorists activities in Punjab during the late 1970’s situation, eminent author Khuswant Singh had written that decreasing returns from agriculture after the peaks of the Green Revolution, land fragmentation and the government’s incapabilities to create fresh jobs were the reasons behind many frustrated youngsters joining the ignoble cause of the secessionists and terrorists in the 1980’s. Over these days we see now and then a status relating to the APPSCE in the social media and this need to be pondered and looked into Toto by our incumbent recruitment board.

                                    I for one always believe that by their very nature, youths are optimistic, full of energy and willing to work hard. Give them opportunity and they will put up a dazzling performances. But if they find their efforts frustrated for no faults of theirs, their innate energy manifests in more unfortunate violent forms. Remember the Arab Spring that started on December 17, 2010 when 26 year old Mohammed Bouazizi set himself on fire in protest against the confiscation of his livelihood and humiliation by government officials of Tunisia.

                                    I know for sure we are peace loving people and shall not resort to any such violent acts. But we have every justifiable reason of resentment and anger over our inactive government in solving our problems and therefore present Government have lost our trusts. Its Young Arunachal appeal that we are desperate to contribute to the betterment of Arunachal Pradesh and be a part of India’s onward march. But we lack opportunity. If you can’t provide atleast provide them with an enabling environment. This is the least they deserve from their Chief Minister.

Stranger in my land

Can Youth Change Game?

150 million! That we are told is the number of first timer voters India will see in the 2014 general Election. Will this Stupendous Figure be a political game changer? Perhaps yes, if one goes by the number alone. However, what one is not sure about is whether the change would be for good or bad.

In context to our state. Out of 743350 total voters, we have 30399 first timers voters Arunachal Will see in the 2014 Election. We are a state where almost very youth is a political pundit and very young guys over in the high school are aiming for a stroke in the student politics which is very much visible in our state. Moreover the list of crorepaties that where listed might have made our young minds more determine in choosing Politics as a lucricative career option. The Social Medias are flooded with posts of politics and politicians, allegations and appreciations, either pulling the noses or elongating the noses. As I said everyone seems to be a political pundit. Now seeing this, our mind taunts us. Can Youth Change Game?

But then since our literacy rate, even amongst the youth is dismally low and the employment scenario too is very scary, one cannot perceive our youth as a thinking or revolutionary force. Thus it appears that our feloniously shrewd political class would be able to turn their frustrating gullibility rather easily. For our politicians of all hues and shades are well verse in selling false dreams, Their chief trade that they have been into for the past more than six decades.

Undoubted, Our city youths, (youths that access social networking and modern techs) in comparison to their rural brethren are more informed and practical in their approached to life.  As a youth of this land. I have never ever come across platforms like student politics where money isn’t involve. And the open secret is that the highest bidder wins the race. Is it a healthy or a unhealthy practice especially in Arunachal Pradesh is debatable Because the life style in our state is such that many of youth  financially support their own education and their life.

So it is understood that majority of the youth are still depended on the easy money making and election is a festival where politicians slug out their wealth therefore it’s hard to assume that our youth would independently be politically mature. But then there is always a hope.

Countdown as already ticked the Red letter Day, It is the youth and every individual to think and ponder to give their one vote to a valued selfless leader, who can back the creative wealth of the state and bring a change of corruption-free state.
